As a Design Engineer for Dog Crates, you’ll have the unique chance to be at the forefront of innovation in this rapidly growing product category. From the drawing board to the final product, you’ll play a key role in designing products that blend cutting-edge technology, superior functionality, and high-end design, all with a focus on sustainability.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and developing new dog crate products and components that meet Thule’s high-quality standards.
  • Driving the product development cycle from ideation to industrialization, ensuring products are developed within budget and timeline.
  • Evaluating technical solutions, including materials selection (steel, aluminum, plastics), manufacturing processes, and aesthetic design.
  • Working closely with cross-functional teams—project managers, simulation engineers, prototype makers, and more—to deliver top-tier products.
  • Leveraging our state-of-the-art prototype facilities to test and refine designs in a hands-on way.


What We’re Looking For:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience) with some years of relevant work experience in design engineering.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software and an understanding of materials like plastics and metals.
  • A hands-on approach to product development, with a strong preference for those who enjoy prototype work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • An understanding of creating clear drawings and specifications that are easy to manufacture and understand.
  • Fluency in English—it’s the main language we use for communication.

About our Global Product Development Department 
Globally we are over 250 engineers out of the majority is working in our Global Product Development Center in Hillerstorp (Sweden). Our cross functional team consists of highly skilled and motivated members with a well-balanced variety of experiences. We are a truly global company with an international and multi-cultural team. English is the language we use in our daily communication. We see a great future with continued passion for product development that is so vital for our growth as a company. We set great value in our working environment and offer great premises designed for product development. In our Global R&D center in Hillerstorp we have expanded with new offices, landscapes, team rooms and creative areas, but also great prototype areas including cut & sew and electronics lab.
